Virtual Wildwood
Click each thumbnail to enlarge and
explore the springtime wildwood. It is a
foggy Spring morn. These are views of
a 3D woodland generated in Pov-Ray
using the TomTree add-on. All but one
of these scenes is of a group of 20
trees, but one has as many as 40,
which my PC struggled to parse and
render (this requires about 1GB of
memory)! It would be nice to add some
shrubs to create an understorey (my
computer might just about manage
this!). I hope that you like the bluebells.
Pov-Ray model of an oak tree
Above: one of several models of an oak tree (click to enlarge). If you click to enlarge and look
closely then you will see that the leaves are lobed, like those on an oak tree. In this scene it is
early spring (around late March / early April) and the tree has just produced some new bright
green foliage, but has yet to open all of its buds.
